This advanced course develops the competence to manage complex medical and trauma emergencies in the workplace until professional medical services arrive. Emphasis is placed on structured patient assessment, advanced first aid interventions, and coordinated emergency response.
Course Objectives
- Conduct a structured scene size‑up and primary and secondary patient assessment.
- Provide high‑quality CPR and operate an AED safely and effectively.
- Manage airway, breathing, circulation, and severe bleeding.
- Stabilise traumatic injuries and manage shock and acute medical conditions.
- Coordinate emergency response and provide an effective handover to EMS.
Requirements
- Learners seeking access to this skills programme must be in possession of Advanced Emergency First Aid NQF Level 3 or equivalent.
